Satellite Basics
Satellites
are primarily used to allow communication from remote locations back to public
or private internet and network providers.
A few examples of this can be found in disaster relief organizations as
well as with private users communicating to family members from non standard
locations. Satellite can also be used to
provide entertainment in locations that have not been wired for terrestrial
sources such as cable television.
Satellite communication is also a perfect alternative when terrestrial
sources have been damaged due to climatic changes such as tornadoes or
hurricanes. Currently satellite internet may experience some degradation if there is extremely thick cloud
coverage. Satellites are also
susceptible to high wind conditions causing the physical equipment to
move. There are a large variety of
satellite manufacturers currently in operation.
They manufacture many types of portable satellite internet as well as covered
in motion systems such as used on marine vessels.
